Twitter and Square CEO, Jack Dorsey is making crypto headlines once again as he announced the hiring and assembling of a new team of five (5) members to work full time on contributions to the cryptocurrency (bitcoin and other digital assets) ecosystem.
The upcoming project called “Square Crypto” will feature four developers and one designer; with Jack who has been in the crypto news lately set to make his mark around the cryptocurrency space and currently showing no signs of reversal after famously acknowledging “Bitcoin as the internet’s native currency.”
According to a tweet by the CEO on his official twitter handle, it reads:
It should be noted that the twitter boss also owns the Square CashApp an app for money transfer which also supports cryptocurrency (bitcoin) buy, sell and spend features in the United States up to the sum of $10,000 weekly per user.
The Twitter boss also discussed in a thread reasons for the crypto hire and his decision to take up the bitcoin project, as he highlights: the cryptrocurrency community’s drive and enthusiasm, the need to pioneer a global financial system for the world and not just for his company’s interests, his love for the technology and a need to make the crypto ecosystem better on a large scale.
In his words:
This will be Square’s first open source initiative independent of our business objectives. These folks will focus entirely on what’s best for the crypto community and individual economic empowerment, not on Square’s commercial interests. All resulting work will be open and free.
By this statement, Dorsey pledged to make the team’s products available and open source, he also indicated that payment of wages for the team will be in bitcoin (BTC). On his need of a designer for the team, the CEO explained that user experience (UI) and user interface (UI) are areas still lacking in crypto as he opines that a great design is important to appeal to end users and drive adoption.
