Baidu Tieba, the forums business of Chinese search giant Baidu, has begun clamping down on crypto related material being hosted on its forums. Attempting to search terms like digital currency prompt the following error message : “This forum is temporarily closed due to relevant laws, regulations, and policies.”
Baidu Tieba is currently one of the biggest forum communities in China. Resembling the likes of Reddit across the globe, Baidu Tieba has allowed well over 300 million users to host content and forums on its platform.

Baidu Tieba have further emphasized the recent changes have been enforced to allow the platform to remain complaint with Chinese law. Current activity points to the current closure of crypto forums being due to the aggressive and potentially malicious nature of ICO advertising. A representative from the firm also compared the move to policy changes by the likes of Tencent which has also begun to heavily block and monitor crypto related information seen across its WeChat messaging platform.

This move comes after considerable censorship occurring around the nation with the likes of WeChat and AliPay also moving to block crypto related transactions occurring on their services. On the other hand all crypto related forums are not affected by the recent changes as searching for forums on bitcoin, Ethereum and other coins remain active.
