
The President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni will headline this year’s Africa Blockchain Conference in Kampala, Uganda.
According to a State House correspondent, the 2019 Africa Blockchain Conference will be held from July 3 to July 4, with the theme: “Africa 4.0: Preparing Africans for the 4th Industrial Revolution.“
The conference will address topics such as fintech, payment systems, blockchain, digital financial systems and the future of education.
President Yoweri Museveni is reportedly a supporter of blockchain technology as he highlights his belief that the four areas of Uganda’s economy – agriculture, manufacturing and processing, services and ICT should be supported by blockchain technology for transparency.
This year’s conference will also have Sierra Leone’s President Julia Maasa Bio in attendance; known for his interest in advanced innovations.
Blockchain firm CryptoSavannah is the major organizer of this year’s event in partnership with the Blockchain Assocaition of Uganda. It will be recalled that sequel to the 2018 conference, the firm had partnered with major cyrptocurrency exchange – Binance whose CEO Changpeng Zhao expressed support for the conference while hinting at creating thousands of jobs and bringing investments to Uganda.
Binance through its Binance charity looks to be enjoying as mutual relationship with the African nation, after signing a MOU in April with a Uganda-based NGO to bolster the country’s education and provide supplies students.
NOTE: Africa Blockchain Conference differs from Blockchain Africa Conference.
