Entertainment and the cinema giant, Major Cineplex has become the latest partner of Swiss crypto payments group RapidzPay. The partnership was announced in a signing ceremony held in Thailand earlier this month. It is hoped the crypto platform RapidzPay will enable the cinema group to accept crypto payment throughout their branches. From allowing users to pay for movie tickets to the purchase of confectionary, crypto is set to be integrated throughout the Major Cineplex ecosystem.

Crypto payments will be enabled at Point of Sale machines located in cinemas. RapidzPay also hopes to enable third party companies and individuals also utilize the payment solution offering clients the option of accepting Baht – the currency of Thailand, or crypto if they should opt for.
“With RapidzPOS and the RapidzPay mobile app, you’ll be able to buy any services and products from us, such as movie tickets, popcorn and other different products with cryptocurrency.”
Chanya Tamrongweenichai – Director of Marketing at Major Cineplex
Major Cineplex remains a key player in the cinema industry owning well over 650 screens in Thailand alone. With plans to expand over South East Asia, the company already has a handful of locations in operation in Cambodia with 9 located in Laos.
To conclude, Thailand’s largest cinema group will be accepting bitcoin and crypto payments across their locations. This comes as the entertainment juggernaut cemented a partnership with RapidzPay, one of the biggest crypto payment solutions in Asia. Currently the services have not yet been deployed as the Zurich based crypto company aims to get systems online as soon as possible with updates being provided via their Twitter social media page.
