China’s Latest Crypto Rankings: Bitcoin in 12th Place

China’s Cryptocurrency Ranking for May, BTC at 12th Spot, EOS tops

China has released its updated list of cryptocurrency rankings; with EOS retaining top spot and Bitcoin in 12th place.

In this latest ranking, Bitcoin is up by three places after a month at the 15th spot. Joining EOS in the top five ranks are Tron (TRX), Ethereum (ETH), Steem, Ontology (ONT) in that order.

EOS has maintained first place since June 2018 with Tron maintaining second spot since February 2019. BitcoinCash (BCH) moves up from 31st place to 29th on the standings.

The Chinese crypto ranking list is a government-sponsored index to be released once every two months by the Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID) in partnership with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The ranking features 34 blockchain cryptocurrencies and are based on three criteria: Technology, Application and Innovation.

Despite Bitcoin’s (BTC) overall market dominance and popularity, its surprise place on the standings is based on the assessment of EOS as a better technology token by CCID standards; although BTC scores well for innovation.

Expectedly, some crypto enthusiasts question the rankings as most of the top ranked projects have Chinese origin and with the Chinese government’s perceived double standards for cryptocurrency.
